For 12 years I worked for the Government’s Bhutan Tourism Department as a tour guide throughout Bhutan for cultural tours, gentle walking tours and longer mountain treks. Namgay Adventure Travels was established in 2000.

With first hand knowledge, experience and expertise in adventure activities,  I have guided guests from all over the world.  Over several years, I have researched and established a number of unique routes for small groups.  These routes are planned and especially designed to meet the needs of those clients who wish to learn and experience the unique aspects of Bhutan's people, our culture and the beautiful environment of mountains, forests, plants and birds.

I sincerely want to personally share my travel experiences and beauty of what Bhutan has to offer with many visitors from across the world.  The focus of Namgay Adventure Travels is to introduce visitors to the people and aspects of Bhutan that they might not see with other, conventional travel services. 

Namgay Adventure Travels is a Bhutanese owned tour company based in Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. We specialize in arranging trips precisely designed to meet your particular wishes, focusing on special interest groups for walking, hiking, trekking and cultural activities.

We have itineraries from:

• relaxing day walks along routes with unique history and folklore,

• hiking and trekking through magnificent rhododendron forests,

• to higher-altitude treks to lush yak-grazing pastures across snow-clad peaks and crystal clear springs.

Namgay Adventure Travels cultural tours take you a step back in time to observe the rituals of daily life with us the Bhutanese people, and enjoy the country side, from jingling brass bells of prayer wheels to ornate monasteries (Dzongs a nd Lhakhangs) perched high above terraced paddy fields.  Come together with our people from different locations across the country to involve yourself with hundreds of high-spirited local onlookers dressed in their finest clothes and jewelry to pay respect and to be blessed at the “Tshechu.” social gathering. Here you can truly appreciate the essence of Bhutanese people and experience a preserved steadfast culture. Arrays of colorful brocades whirl through the air as the dancers spin and dance the "Thunderbolt Step" of the Teschus performed. It is a rare privilege bestowed to only a limited number of visitors each year...come and enjoy the experience!

Namgay Adventure Travels Trekking takes every precaution to ensure the safety and comfort of our trekkers.  We have well trained trekking staff and professional equipment. Our meals on treks are carefully planned.

Our treks vary from:

• short three-day walks across relatively low altitudes and across the chain of mountains separating valleys, passing crystal clear lakes and offering splendid views of the high Himalayas

• to the most challenging Snow Man Trek, which is undertaken by only a handful of trekkers each season and accesses Lunana – the most remote region of Bhutan. This Trek is for more experienced trekkers.
